No:120/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan

On 15 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan, who is on a visit to our country to participate in the 9th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye.
During the tête-à-tête meeting held between the Ministers, views were exchanged on the prospects for the development of the existing allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as the current regional situation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction that the dynamics observed in the development of Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations based on brotherhood and friendship, especially the relations that have entered a new phase with the signing of the Shusha Declaration, which enshrines our allied relations, are welcomed. It was brought to attention that bilateral allied relations manifest themselves within the framework of regional as well as international platforms and strengthen our mutual support and solidarity.
The counterpart was provided with detailed information on the current regional situation, the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the existing challenges. It was brought to attention that despite the existing difficulties and challenges, our country is determined to advance the peace process and that we are confident that the normalization of relations will in turn contribute to regional peace and security.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also referred to issues arising from the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in our country this year, and stated that COP29 creates new opportunities for cooperation.
Minister Hakan Fidan expressed his gratitude to his counterpart for the high hospitality, as well as for the successful organization of the 9th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye, and expressed his confidence that the Baku Declaration adopted within the framework of the meeting will contribute to the development of regional cooperation. Wishing our country success during its chairmanship of COP29, Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that Türkiye will be pleased to cooperate with brotherly Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29, as always.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
