No:117/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder

On 14 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder.
During the meeting, the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, as well as issues of joint activities with the United Nations within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), to be held in our country this year, were discussed.
The importance of the activities of the United Nations in Azerbaijan was discussed, and it was noted that our country carries out effective cooperation with the organization, including its specialized agencies.
The counterpart was informed about the current state and prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the current situation in the region and recent developments.
The Under-Secretary-General conveyed his congratulations on the holding of COP29 in our country and stated that the United Nations is ready to provide full support to Azerbaijan in this process. At the same time, he provided information on the “Summit of the Future” event planned to be convened in New York in September this year on behalf of the United Nations Secretary-General.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on regional issues of mutual interest.
