On 13 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), Tatiana Valovaya, who is visiting our country to participate in the Global Baku Forum.

 

During the meeting, various areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNOG, as well as regional issues were discussed.

 

Satisfaction with the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNOG was expressed, and support was conveyed for UNOG’s activities in the areas of sustainable development goals, climate change, economic development, and other relevant areas.

 

It was brought to attention that Azerbaijan, for its part, is actively engaged within the framework of the United Nations, participates actively in COP-29 and upcoming COPs, will host the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF-13), one of the most prestigious events of the United Nations, this year, will host the Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and will assume the chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) from next year.

 

The visits of Ms. Valovaya to our country and the high-level and senior-level meetings held within the framework of these visits were remade a phone call to with satisfaction, and gratitude was expressed for the conditions created for strengthening cooperation between UNOG and the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan in Geneva, as well as other relevant institutions of our country.

 

During the meeting, the other side was informed about the situation in the region and the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process. In addition, an exchange of views was held on the military escalation in the Middle East.
