On 17 March 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, participated and delivered a speech at the iftar event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the ambassadors of Muslim countries accredited in Azerbaijan.
In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the upcoming holiday, and wished peace and prosperity to our world.
It was emphasized that this holy month, which unites the Islamic world, instills high moral values. Reference was made to the special place and role of Islam and the month of Ramadan in the national and spiritual values of Azerbaijani society, including the experience of peaceful coexistence of representatives of various communities.
At the same time, it was brought to attention that discrimination against Islam, acts of violence on religious grounds, tendencies of Islamophobia, and instability caused by conflicts in the Muslim world are of concern. The importance of unity and solidarity in the Islamic world in addressing such challenges was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also spoke in detail about the dynamic development in our region following the liberation of our lands from occupation by our Glorious Army under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander and the end of the former conflict, and honored the cherished memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Speaking about the processes taking place in the post-conflict period, the Minister stated during his speech that the negotiations on the text of the draft bilateral Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have been concluded. At the same time, our demand for the introduction of relevant amendments to the Constitution of Armenia in order to eliminate territorial claims against our country as a condition for signing the agreement was once again emphasized. In this regard, the importance of the dissolution of the no longer relevant OSCE Minsk Group and other related structures was also brought to attention.
Subsequently, the Dean of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, the Ambassador of Palestine to our country, Nasser Abdul Karim Abdul Rahim, delivered a speech, conveying his congratulations on the occasion of the month of Ramadan, as well as expressing his honor at being awarded the “Friendship” Order by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, during this blessed month.
Then, a representative of the Caucasus Muslims Board recited the iftar prayer, and an iftar table was organized for the participants of the event.
