On 7 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Yasin Ekrem Serim, who is on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the prospects of the bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the current situation in the region, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.
Satisfaction was expressed with the efforts aimed at further expanding the strategic allied relations between the two countries at all levels. It was noted that it is important to further expand the Azerbaijan-Türkiye strategic alliance agenda in the fields of political, economic, trade, military, defense industry, energy security, investment, transport and communications, humanitarian, education, culture and other areas.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov shared his impressions regarding the high-level organization of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and stated that he is proud of brotherly Türkiye’s diplomatic achievements and its rise to the 3rd place in the world in terms of the number of diplomatic missions. It was brought to attention that the decision on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye University will further deepen cooperation in the field of education between the two countries.
It was also brought to attention that the mutually beneficial partnership in bilateral and international organizations in areas such as international and regional threats, the migration problem and other directions is of an exemplary nature.
It was noted that increasing the intensity of joint events and putting forward new multilateral initiatives within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, which is one of the main foreign policy priorities of Azerbaijan, is important.
At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the counterpart about the latest steps taken towards the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Minister emphasized that in order to establish peace and stability in the region, it is important for Armenia to refrain from claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting, views were also exchanged on other bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
