No:071/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Marcel de Vink

On 24 February 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Marcel de Vink, who was on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, as well as the current regional situation, were discussed.
It was noted that there are broad prospects for the development of Azerbaijan–Netherlands cooperation.
At the same time, the importance of utilizing mutual discussion mechanisms, particularly political consultations and reciprocal visits, was emphasized in order to eliminate obstacles hindering the development of relations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also briefed the other side in detail on our country’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as the achievements attained during the session held in Baku last year. Despite double standards that hindered the process, the significance of the important results achieved by our country in a number of decisive elements—particularly in agreeing on a new collective quantified goal on climate finance, which is the main priority of our ambitious COP29 chairmanship—was highlighted.
The other side was also informed about the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process, ongoing delimitation efforts, as well as the existing difficulties and challenges hindering the advancement of the peace agenda. It was emphasized that the problem of double standards faced during both the former conflict and post-conflict periods is regrettable and does not serve regional peace and reconstruction efforts.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The consultations were led by Deputy Minister Fariz Rzayev from the Azerbaijani side and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcel de Vink from the Dutch side.
