he whole world is currently struggling with a dangerous epidemic of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a global pandemic.
The Government of Azerbaijan is taking serious measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and this process is under the direct control of the President.
In this situation, in connection with the closure of land and air routes of our country and the temporary cessation of flights, special charter flights are being organized to return Azerbaijani citizens to Azerbaijan who are abroad and want to return to the country. About 10,000 of our citizens have been brought to the country by AZAL's special charter flights and other means of transport. All citizens entering the country from abroad are examined and kept in quarantine for 14-21 days at the state expense.
The state has mobilized all opportunities to ensure the health of Azerbaijani citizens and the security of our country, and very important and effective measures are being taken in this regard. However, we must take into account that our opportunities are not limitless. In the current situation, it is very important for our citizens to realize their responsibilities and fulfill their duties.
In accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization, we urge our citizens abroad to comply with the quarantine rules in the countries where they stay. Hospitals and quarantine places with special regimes are being prepared for the quarantine of every citizen returning to Azerbaijan, and appropriate logistics is being provided. And this requires not only the mobilization of relevant opportunities, but also time. For this reason, we recommend that our citizens exercise caution and comply with the rules of self-isolation in the countries where they stay. In the current situation, the creation of unfounded fears, in some cases, the abuse of evacuation, attempts to discredit the actions of the state demonstrate the irresponsible behavior of some people.
In the name of ensuring the safety of our citizens, their relatives, as well as the Azerbaijani state, we call on each of our citizens to limit foreign visits, including the return trips, to be patient and to observe the rules of self-isolation in those places where they are. We believe that by demonstrating understanding and solidarity, we will overcome temporary difficulties together.
