No:047/25, Press release on political consultations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait

On 13 February 2025, the 1st round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait was held.
The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah from the Kuwaiti side.
During the consultations, a broad exchange of views was held on the current state and future prospects of relations in political, economic, energy, agriculture, tourism, education, humanitarian and other fields.
At the same time, opportunities for expanding mutual cooperation in a multilateral format, especially within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, were discussed, and mutual coordination and cooperation within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) were highly appreciated.
The sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev met with Minister of Commerce and Industry of the State of Kuwait Khalifa Al-Ajeel and Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. During the meeting, preparations for the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Kuwait to be held in April of this year, as well as issues related to organizing mutual trade missions and business forums, were discussed.
Within the framework of his visit to Kuwait, the Deputy Minister also visited the Center for the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies and, together with Member of the Board of the Center Ambassador Abdulaziz Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, delivered a comprehensive presentation to the Center’s leadership and researchers on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy and regional issues. The Deputy Minister informed the audience about the future prospects of Azerbaijan-Kuwait cooperation, our country’s foreign policy priorities, its views on regional and global issues, as well as the post-conflict normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
The Deputy Minister also met with Azerbaijani students studying at Kuwait University and inquired about their study conditions.
