No:035/26, Press release on consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary

On 11 February 2026, in the city of Baku, the second consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary were held.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Hungarian delegation was headed by Balázs Farkas, Director of the Consular and Citizenship Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The meeting was also attended by Tamas Torma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as officials from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Employment Service under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the Ministry of Science and Education, and the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the consular consultations, the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the consular field with Hungary, a key strategic partner for Azerbaijan with strong bilateral ties, were reviewed. The discussions also covered the signing of new bilateral documents in the consular sector and opportunities for the digitalization of consular services.
The parties exchanged information on recent developments in the consular field and discussed proposals for strengthening cooperation in areas such as legal assistance, education, migration, labor, and other relevant sectors.
