On 29 January 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
During the call, the situation surrounding Iran was discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the recent tensions in the region are a cause for concern and emphasized that Azerbaijan has consistently stressed the necessity for all parties to refrain from actions and rhetoric that could lead to instability in or around Iran. The importance of resolving existing issues exclusively through dialogue and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms and principles of international law was underscored.
It was specifically highlighted that the airspace or territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan will never be permitted to be used by any state for conducting military operations against neighboring Iran or any other country.
The telephone conversation also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
