No:018/26, Press Release on the Meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Vahid Jalalzadeh

On 23 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Vahid Jalalzadeh, who is on a visit to our country.
During the meeting, the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, the recent tensions in Iran, as well as regional issues were discussed.
Deputy Minister V. Jalalzadeh provided detailed information on the recent tensions in Iran and the current situation. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, for his part, emphasized the importance we attach to stability in Iran and conveyed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the recent events.
It was noted that contacts between the Presidents of the two countries, reciprocal visits, as well as the existing political dialogue are important for the development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, and that discussions on issues of mutual interest contribute to the expansion of cooperation. The work of the State Commission on economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran was noted with satisfaction.
Discussing the prospects of cooperation in the fields of transport and communications between the two countries, the parties underlined that a number of projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Iran play an important role in the development of transport corridors passing through our region.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
