No:010/26, Press Release on the Telephone Conversation between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio

On 19 January 2026, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
During the conversation, the current state and development prospects of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as the regional situation and the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process, were discussed.
The bilateral contacts and discussions on the development of the Strategic Partnership Charter following the 8 August Washington Peace Summit were highly appreciated, and the parties expressed their hope that the draft would be agreed upon and signed in the near future. It was emphasized that the priorities to be identified in this regard would provide additional momentum to the relations between the two countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in turn, conveyed Azerbaijan’s position regarding the prospects of the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization and peace process. The steps taken within the framework of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the confidence-building measures were appreciated. The importance of the implementation of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) was also highlighted.
The Ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
