No:007/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Secretary General Kairat Sarybay of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia

On 15 January 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Secretary General Kairat Sarybay of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures (CICA) in Asia.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the priority directions of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the CICA for the period of 2024–2026, as well as the ongoing activities and future prospects within the framework of the organization.
At the meeting, the rich experience of our country in multilateral diplomacy and its successful chairmanships were particularly emphasized, and it was noted with satisfaction that the conceptual document presented by Azerbaijan on the CICA chairmanship covers broad directions related to the future development of the organization, as well as the strengthening of cooperation and confidence among countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Kazakhstan, as the initiator, has played a significant role in the development of the organization. He noted the importance of further enhancing the international role and efficiency of the organization during our chairmanship, expanding practical benefits for member states, and ensuring institutional development. The importance of developing cooperation in the fields of education, climate change, youth, media, transport connectivity and many other areas was emphasized. The Minister stated that, taking into account the adoption of very important decisions related to the global climate agenda within the framework of our COP29 chairmanship, there is potential for projects within the CICA in the field of combating climate change.
Secretary General Kairat Sarybay expressed that his visit program to Azerbaijan is quite extensive, including that his meetings with relevant institutions will be useful in terms of obtaining detailed information on topics of importance for the CICA and discussing the priorities of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
