No:006/20, On January 17, 2020 the conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of 20 January tragedy was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ADA University
The conference started with the opening remarks of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov, Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev and Rector of the ADA University Hafiz Pashayev, and was attended by the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, as well as professors and students of the ADA University.
At the panel discussion of the conference speaking about the historical and political aspects of the 20 January events head of the Caucasian Policy Division of the Institute of the Caucasian studies of the ANAS Dr. Elnur Kalbizadeh, professors of the ADA University Ferit Murat Ozkaleli and Gulmammad Mammadov underlined the importance of these events in the history of Azerbaijan's independence.
During the conference, a glance to the 20 January events through the eyes of Azerbaijani youth was also reflected in the speeches of the students. The videos dedicated to the memory of the 20 January victims prepared by the students, including the foreign students studying at the ADA University, as well as Diplomacy Volunteers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were presented at the conference.
