No: 145/17, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with religious community leaders and Jews Organizations of the USA within his visit to New York

At the meeting E.Mammadyarov said that tolerance and multiculturalism have been existed in Azerbaijan for centuries and values of tolerance and inclusiveness proudly conveyed from generation to generation. Talking about the traditions of tolerance of Azerbaijani people, E.Mammadyarov noted that representatives of diverse confessions have been living in a peaceful atmosphere in Azerbaijan and present an excellent model of co-existence. He also emphasized that confessional diversity holds special place in the social life of the public. E.Mammadyarov stated that it has been tradition to host global events dedicated to the promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogues in Azerbaijan and in this regard talked about the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations held in Azerbaijan in 2016.

Furthermore, E. Mammadyarov, in separate meetings, met with members of the American Jewish Committee and Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

Sides expressed their satisfactions with the high level development of relations among Azerbaijan and American Jewish organizations. Minister E.Mammadyarov said that Jewish community has been living in a peaceful atmosphere in Azerbaijan and added that members of Jewish community are very closely integrated to and actively presented in the society.

E.Mammadyarov mentioned that the Government of Azerbaijan attaches special attention to the promotion of tolerance and multiculturalism and added that the year of 2016 and 2017 was declared as a Year of Multiculturalism and Year of Islamic Solidarity respectively. He also gladly informed the interlocutors that the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games which took place in Azerbaijan has been successfully accomplished.
