Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov recieved Cihan Sultanoğlu, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the UNDP
At the meeting it was stressed that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNDP is successfully developing. In the meantime, the actions and projects in the humanitarian field implemented by Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were highly appreciated.
Cihan Sultanoğlu mentioned that the UNDP is interested in enhancement of cooperation with Azerbaijan and briefed about achievements as a result of bilateral cooperation. She also mentioned that other countries can also benefited from the experiences of “ANAMA” and “ASAN” Services of Azerbaijan.
At the meeting it is also noted that election of Azerbaijan to membership of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) for the years of 2017-2019 will create additional opportunities to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
