Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation headed by Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran who is on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting the sides expressed satisfaction with the development of good neighborly relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The sides noted the historical, cultural and religious ties binding two countries and stressed that mutually beneficial cooperation serves for the interests of the peoples of our countries.
At the meeting views were also exchanged on cooperation in the political, economic, energy, transport, tourism, culture, combatting terrorism fields as well as the legal status of the Caspian Sea.
The sides emphasized the importance of the intergovernmental commission in the development of relations.
The ministers noted that the increased intensity of high-level mutual visits in recent years significantly contributed to furthering the bilateral cooperation.
The importance of the regional cooperation in trilateral format between two countries was also underlined.
The sides expressed their respect to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders of the states and stressed an inadmissibility of changing the borders of states by use of force.
After the meeting the ministers held joint press conference.
