Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the delegation headed by Mitja Bervar, President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.
At the meeting the sides expressed their satisfaction with the development level of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia and noted that the mutual high-level visits contribute to the development of the cooperation.
Noting the statement of the legislative body of Slovenia regarding the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Mitja Bervar added that the statement underlined the importance of the peaceful resolution of the conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group in accordance with the UN Security Council's resolutions.
Congratulating Azerbaijan for hosting the 1st European Games to be held in Baku on July 12-28, 2015 Mitja Bervar said that the number of Slovenian athletes would take part at these games.
Noting the historical ties between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that paying tribute to the memory of Azerbaijanis by Slovenians especially Mehdi Huseynzade who took part in in liberation of Slovenia from Nazism is highly appreciated.
Adding that Azerbaijan puts a special emphasis to development of its relations with the Balkan countries, Elmar Mammadyarov noted a vast potential to further promote the cooperation in the fields of energy, economy and trade, capital investment, culture and sports between two countries.
Giving a brief information about the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict Elmar Mammadyarov stressed inadmissibility of the efforts to change the internationally recognized borders of the states and added that all countries shall abide by the the norms and principles of international law.
