Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Sherif Ismail Mohamed, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt within his official visit

At the meeting, the sides exchanged their views on the ways of further advancing the bilateral cooperation in political, economic, energy, transport, education, culture and humanitarian spheres between Azerbaijan and Egypt. In this regard, it was mentioned that the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated next year. They also expressed their conviction that the meeting of the Joint Inter-Governmental Commission to be held in late November will contribute to the enhancement of cooperation in various fields. 

Touching upon the issues of cooperation in the field of energy, the sides noted that the beneficial relationship between SOCAR and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) has been established for more than 6 years.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail Mohamed stated that Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s visit to Egypt has an importance in terms of development of bilateral relationship and emphasized that such visits create favorable opportunities for defining the future landmarks of the relationship between our countries.

Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to the development of bilateral relations with all Arabic countries, including Egypt. 

Briefing on the latest status of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said that Egypt’s support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and its stance on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict through negotiations in compliance with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council is appreciated.

During the meeting, issues such as expansion of cooperation in the tourism, pharmaceutical, ICT, agriculture and textile sectors, increasing the number of mutual high-level visits were also discussed.
