Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Harlem Desir, Secretary of State for European Affairs of France
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Harlem Desir, Secretary of State for European Affairs of France on the sidelines of the 22nd OSCE Ministerial Council being held in Belgrade on the 3rd of December 2015.
At the meeting, the sides expressed their satisfaction of the sustainable development of the bilateral political, economical and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and France.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov highlighted the special role of Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Member of Parliament, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO in the development of the cooperation between Azerbaijan and France.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged their views on the negotiation process over the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs.
Noting that as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, France supports the peaceful settlement of the conflict, Harlem Desir stressed that his country will continue its efforts in this regard.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted that Azerbaijan welcomes the efforts of France on the settlement of the conflict. He reminded the meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia held in Paris with the participation of the other OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair States on the initiative of Francois Hollande, President of France in November 2014.
He went on saying that instead of taking constructive actions for the discussion of the issues, especially the preparation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, Armenia with provocative purposes just after the meeting conducted large-scale military drill in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and instigated well-known helicopter incident.
Also drawing attention to the agreement reached on the exchange of information about the missing person and the creation of the DNT database through the International Res Cross Committee in the Paris meeting of the Presidents, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that more than 4000 Azerbaijanis have still the status of missing persons as a result of Armenian aggression.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the regional and global issues of mutual interest.
