Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov paid a working visit to Russian Federation on July 17
During the visit Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
During the meeting Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation greeted Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and expressed his confidence that this visit will contribute to further development of high level bilateral relations. Russian Foreign Minister underlined that the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in many spheres as well as the humanitarian field successfully continues and noted that the Russian Culture Days will be held in Azerbaijan during the International Humanitarian Forum. Furthermore, Sergey Lavrov said that an event on exploration of oil and gas fields of Arctic will be held in Saint-Petersburg in September 2015 and the Azerbaijani Energy Minister also has been invited to that event. Moreover, Russian Foreign Minister underlined that an inter-regional forum will be organized as a part of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission meeting which will be held in Yekaterinburg in September 2015 and Azerbaijani delegation also is expected to participate in a military exhibition, which will be held in Sverdlovsk province.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his gratitude to his counterpart and mentioned that this meeting was held according to the instructions of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia. Then the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan congratulated his Russian counterpart on the occasion of successful conclusion of the negotiations on Iran's nuclear program in Vienna. Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed his confidence that these negotiations will positively affect the situation in the region and added that for the complete stabilization of the region the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from all occupied Azerbaijani territories is inevitable. Referring to the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the conflict, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan stressed the role of Russia as a co-chair state of the Minsk Group.
Sergey Lavrov said that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs carry out steadfast work on this issue, the co-chairs are in close contact and it is time to further intensify the negotiations towards the resolution of the conflict and for that all required prerequisites are available.
