No:418/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye

On 18 October 2024, within the framework of his working visit to Istanbul, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan had a meeting with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.

 

At the meeting, topics pertaining from the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, the post-conflict situation in the region, as well as global security problems were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye for hosting, organizing, and demonstrating such warm hospitality during this year's 3+3 format meeting. It was mentioned that the rapidly changing regional and global security scene has made these consultation mechanisms even more important, and that cooperation is essential to overcome our region's common challenges. The significance of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, mutual support, and solidarity on regional and international platforms was highlighted in this regard.

 

Speaking comprehensively about the post-conflict situation and reality in the region, as well as the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the challenges in front of the peace process still remain. It was brought to attention that the continuation of territorial claims against our country in the Armenian constitution, as well as the fact that Armenia ignores the problem instead of doing systematic work in this direction, remains a source of concern.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed his colleague about our presidency to the 29th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and the preparation process.

 

Türkiye’s consistent support to the peace and reconstruction efforts of brotherly Azerbaijan in the region, as well as the hope for soonest conclusion of the process was expressed.

 

During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also exchanged.
