No:349/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov
On September 23, 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Office of Counter-Terrorism and exchanged views on joint activities in the fight against terrorism.
Minister Bayramov thanked the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism for its technical support to the relevant agencies of Azerbaijan in the development of Advanced Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems in the country.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed his interlocutor about Armenia's use of foreign terrorist fighters during the recent aggression against Azerbaijan, noting that members of the Armenian community living abroad abused non-profit organizations to finance terrorist activities in Azerbaijan's sovereign territories.
Vladimir Voronkov praised Azerbaijan's positive experience in the fight against terrorism and stressed the importance of sharing this experience with other countries.
The sides also exchanged views on regional and international security issues.
