On 21 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, within the framework of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in the city of Istanbul.
During the meeting, political, economic, transport and communications, humanitarian and other aspects of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan alliance, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest were discussed.
It was noted that there are broad opportunities to expand multilateral cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Turkic States, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.
Recent developments in the region were discussed, and it was noted that the increasing tension in the Middle East, particularly the Israel-Iran confrontation, is a cause for concern.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
