No:236/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar

On 30 May 2024, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, within the framework of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Following the tête-à-tête meeting between the two ministers, a meeting between the delegations was held in an expanded format.
During the meeting, the ministers highly appreciated the strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and emphasized that mutual visits and high-level meetings give a special impetus to the further development of relations in all fields between the two countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for the strong political and moral support provided to Azerbaijan during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, during the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as in the post-war period.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the principled position of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Jammu and Kashmir is based on supporting the peaceful resolution of this issue in accordance with the norms and principles of international law and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
The sides emphasized the importance of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, information technologies, pharmaceuticals, heavy and light industry, chemistry, agriculture, tourism, transport, defense, education, humanitarian and other areas. It was brought to attention that direct flights between the two countries make a significant contribution to the development of tourism and people-to-people contacts.
The development of cooperation relations in the fields of education and humanitarian sphere, the existence of language and cultural centers operating in educational institutions in both countries, as well as training programs, were noted with satisfaction.
The ministers noted the importance of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in terms of further deepening relations and increasing mutual investments.
During the meeting, the sides brought to attention that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Pakistan within relevant international organizations, including the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia.
It was noted that Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) creates new opportunities for cooperation in various fields, including green energy.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided extensive information on the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the post-conflict period, as well as the mine threat.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
Following the bilateral meetings, a joint press conference was convened with the participation of both ministers, and questions from media representatives were answered.
