On March 5, 2026, the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov.
During the telephone conversation, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided detailed information about the drone attacks carried out by Iran.
It was emphasized that these attacks against the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan constitute a gross violation of the norms and principles of international law and contribute to increased tensions in the region.
The Austrian Minister strongly condemned the drone attacks against Azerbaijan and expressed solidarity with our country.
The need to prevent further escalation of the situation in the Middle East, enhance diplomatic efforts, and respect the norms and principles of international law within this framework was highlighted.
Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing arrangements for the evacuation of Austrian citizens in Iran through Azerbaijani territory.
During the telephone conversation, views on other issues of mutual interest were also exchanged.
