No:586/22, Press release on the meeting of Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States
On December 15, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
At the outset, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Kubanychbek Omuraliev on his election as the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, wished him success in his responsible duty and expressed confidence that he will contribute to the further expansion of interaction within the framework of the Organization.
Emphasizing that the Organization of Turkic States has made great progress since the Nakhchivan Summit in 2009, and that today its importance at the international level has increased even more, the minister spoke about the importance of high-level meetings. It was stated that, against the background of the rapid processes taking place in the world, the organization is an important platform in order to effectively organize the fight against emerging challenges and to realize new opportunities for the sake of the interests of our peoples and states. It was emphasized that our country attaches great importance to cooperation with member countries of the organization, and that strengthening mutual relations in all fields is one of the main priorities of our foreign policy.
At the meeting, Minister J. Bayramov also spoke about the deliberate destruction, looting and appropriation of the cultural heritage of our country as a result of nearly 30 years of aggression by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Also, he brought to attention that the purposeful mining of our territories during the past period is an indicator of Armenia's imitation of negotiations during these years.
Kubanychbek Omuraliev highly appreciated the active work and support of Azerbaijan within the framework of the organization. He emphasized that the new opportunities that will arise in the region with the opening of communication and transport hubs will serve to further expand the economic potential among the member states.
At the meeting, it was noted with satisfaction that the city of Shusha was declared the "cultural capital of the Turkic world" for 2023. An exchange of views took place on the joint events to be hosted by the city of Shusha.
