No:548/22, Press release on the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the EU Commission Josep Borrell
On December 1, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the EU Commission Josep Borrell within the framework of his participation in the 29th Ministerial Council meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), held in Lodz, Poland.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union in various fields, future prospects of relations, as well as the implementation of agreements reached in the field of energy were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on the efforts to advance the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the role of the European Union.
The attention of the counterparts has been drawn to the fact that Armenia creates obstacles within the framework of the process, evades obligations under the agreements reached at the level of the leaders, and creates a false impression about the negotiation process. The minister also once again drew attention to the existing landmine threat in the territories liberated from occupation.
Josep Borrell, in turn, noted the great potential for developing strategic partnership relations in the field of energy between Azerbaijan and the European Union. He stated that the European Union intends to continue its support for the normalization process.
At the meeting, the sides discussed other issues of mutual interest.
