No:485/25, Press release on the telephone conversation between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the Director-General of UNESCO

On 23 December, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the newly elected Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Khaled El-Enany.
The Minister congratulated his counterpart on his election as Director-General of UNESCO and wished him success in his activities.
The sides highly appreciated the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO and expressed their readiness to further develop these relations in the future. Azerbaijan’s role in multilateral diplomacy and intercultural dialogue was emphasized. In this context, Azerbaijan’s initiatives and plans related to UNESCO were discussed.
The Director-General of UNESCO emphasized the importance of efforts aimed at increasing trust in the organization and preventing the politicization of its activities.
The Minister also informed the Director-General about the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) to be held in Baku in 2026, the Baku Process, and the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, and invited him to participate in these events.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov further provided detailed information on the historic Washington meeting and the work carried out in the post-conflict period.
The sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest during the telephone conversation.
