No:468/22, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Livia Leu in Geneva
On October 3, 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Livia Leu.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude to the Swiss side for hosting the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. The Minister shared his views on the results of the meeting with his interlocutor. The importance of focusing efforts on the regulation of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the signing of a peace treaty in the post-conflict period was emphasized, and it was noted that elements of the treaty were presented to the Armenian side.
The existing difficulties in the process of normalization of relations, the delimitation and opening of communications, as well as the continued placement of mines by the Armenian side in the territory of Azerbaijan causing numerous tragic losses was brought up.
State Secretary Livia Leu emphasized the importance of continuing the process of normalization in the region and avoiding military escalations. She pointed out that Switzerland is always ready to contribute to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on the principles of neutrality.
Exchange of views took place on the prospects of future negotiations, as well as on other issues of mutual interests.
