On September 27, 2022, an event dedicated to September 27 - Remembrance Day was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The commemorative event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participants of the Patriotic War, Martyrs' families and diplomacy volunteers.
The event began with the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 27 – Commemoration Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Later, a video dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War was shown.
Speaking at the commemorative event, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov noted that 2 years ago, on September 27, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan resorted to retaliatory measures in order to prevent another military provocation of Armenia, and this operation marked the beginning of the 44-day Patriotic War. It was stated that, as a result of the Patriotic War, the heroic Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, ensured both international law and historical justice. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the large-scale reconstruction work currently being carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, serves to safe return of our internally displaced persons to their homes who were forcibly displaced from these territories several decades ago, and stressed that the first families returned to the village of Agali, Zangilan region of Azerbaijan, already liberated from occupation. It was emphasized that despite the fact that at the post-conflict stage Azerbaijan made a number of efforts towards the process of normalizing relations between the two states, the Armenian side did not reciprocate this and regularly resorted to provocations. In this regard, it was emphasized that Armenia's latest provocation on September 12-14 harmed the normalization process and efforts to ensure peace in the region. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, addressing the children of the martyrs who took part in the event, said that the whole of Azerbaijan is proud of their fathers, all our martyrs, and with deep respect and gratitude honored the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
The representative of the Ministry of Defense, participant of the Patriotic War, Chief of Staff of the Missile and Artillery Troops, colonel Gulmammad Rzayev, spoke at the commemorative event. He shared with the participants of the event his memories of participating in operations to liberate Azerbaijani territories from occupation during the 44-day Patriotic War. Speaking about the heroism shown by the glorious Azerbaijani Army on the battlefield, Gulmammad Rzayev noted that if any threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan arises in the future, the Azerbaijani Army will take decisive measures to prevent these threats and protect our Motherland.
After the event, at 12:00, the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commemorated the dearest memory of the Martyrs with a minute of silence.
