No:454/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas

On 4 December 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, on the sidelines of the 32nd Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council held in Vienna.

 

During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of the Azerbaijan–European Union cooperation agenda were discussed. Satisfaction was expressed with the increasing dynamics of high-level contacts between the sides in recent times, and the importance of maintaining the continuity and productivity of this engagement was emphasized.

 

The importance of intensifying efforts and dialogue within existing cooperation mechanisms was highlighted.

 

Views were exchanged on ongoing activities aimed at expanding cooperation in the areas of energy security, transport and communications, as well as trade and economic cooperation.

 

The role of Azerbaijan in ensuring the energy security of the European Union and its contributions in this regard were highly appreciated, and projects related to renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and electricity exports were reviewed.

 

The importance of steps taken to expand infrastructure capacities along existing routes and to develop new routes in order to enhance and diversify the transport and communication potential of the region was noted.

 

Information was provided to the counterpart on regional security issues, post-conflict realities in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan’s efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability, and recent developments and expectations regarding the country’s peace agenda.

 

The meeting also addressed other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
