On 26 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the Italian Republic, met with the President of the Senate of the Italian Republic Ignazio La Russa.

 

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, which have risen to the level of strategic partnership. It was noted that in recent years, bilateral relations based on mutual trust, common interests and active political dialogue have further deepened.

 

During the conversation, satisfaction was expressed with the development of Azerbaijan-Italy cooperation in various fields, including political, defense and security, economic and trade, energy and renewable energy, humanitarian, tourism, culture and education.

 

At the meeting, it was emphasized that the participation of the President of Italy in the opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan-Italy University, the attendance of the Prime Minister of Italy at the COP29 Leaders’ Summit in our country, as well as high-level contacts between the leaders of the two countries have given an additional impetus to relations.

 

The sides noted that strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and maintaining continuous political dialogue are of decisive importance for the future development of relations. In this context, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy was particularly highlighted in terms of strengthening the institutional foundations of cooperation between the two countries, as well as increasing mutual support within regional and international parliamentary platforms.

 

During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side in detail about the post-conflict realities arising from the former Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict, the steps taken to ensure peace and stability in the region, including large-scale restoration, reconstruction and reintegration processes in the liberated territories, as well as the participation of Italian companies in this process.

 

The sides also exchanged views on the regional security environment, multilateral cooperation formats, issues on the international agenda and other topics of mutual interest.
