Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the OIC and highlighted the close cooperation carried out with the Organization. OIC's traditional support for Azerbaijan's rightful position, as well as its sovereignty and territorial integrity based on international law was emphasized with gratitude. Importance of the statement issued by the OIC regarding the situation was noted and detailed information was presented about the recent provocations of Armenia against Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan's active membership of the OIC, as well as its contribution to the strengthening of Islamic solidarity, intercultural and interreligious dialogue was particularly noted by the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha. The Secretary-General recalled with satisfaction his visit to Azerbaijan, as well as the meetings held this year during the visit.
Exchange of views on current issues of the cooperation agenda, the regional situation within the framework of the OIC, as well the OIC Action Plan with Azerbaijan on culture, education and a number of other fields took place.
