No:421/24, Press release regarding the meeting between Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the President of the United States and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council
On 21 October, Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs received the delegation led by Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the President of the United States and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council.
During the meeting, bilateral and regional issues between Azerbaijan and USA, as well as the current situation and prospects of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process were discussed.
The importance of increasing efforts to build positive dynamics in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States and to determine the prospects for further cooperation was highlighted.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the normalization process and peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the recent Istanbul meeting. Notwithstanding the notable progress made in the peace agreement negotiations, continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in numerous legal and political documents of Armenia, particularly the Constitution of this country, was highlighted as the most serious obstacle to the signing of the final peace agreement.
The two sides also discussed regional topics of mutual interest during the meeting.
