On 31 October 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his working visit to the city of Samarkand of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.
During the meeting, the prospects for the development of the existing strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary, issues of cooperation within regional and international organizations, as well as future plans and projects were discussed.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the existing political dialogue, mutual visits and contacts between the two countries, as well as mechanisms such as strategic dialogue and political consultations, contribute to the development of partnership relations.
An exchange of views was held on issues on the multifaceted cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Hungary on a bilateral basis in areas such as economy, trade, investments, energy security, renewable energy resources, humanitarian, education, culture and others. In particular, the existence of potential for further strengthening economic ties was noted, and the role of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Hungary in discussing prospects in this direction was emphasized.
It was emphasized during the meeting that the development and transmission of renewable energy is one of the important components of our strategic partnership relations, and the need to continue activities to advance the Black Sea submarine cable/Green Middle Corridor initiative in this direction was highlighted.
Hungary’s contribution to reconstruction works in the territories liberated from occupation was noted with gratitude.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on regional security and other issues of mutual interest.
