No:389/25, Press release on the participation and speech of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS

On 9 October 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov participated and delivered a speech at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held in the city of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

 

In his speech, information was provided on Azerbaijan’s vision of cooperation within the CIS in the fields of economy, trade, transport-communications, humanitarian, youth and other areas.

 

The Tajik side was thanked for the successful organization of the Council of Foreign Ministers, and Turkmenistan, which will assume the chairmanship of the Commonwealth next year, was wished success.

 

It was noted that increasing mutual visits and contacts with the member states of the organization contributes to cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, and that the format of the Council of Foreign Ministers, in turn, is useful in discussing issues of mutual interest.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the successful organization of the III CIS Games held in Azerbaijan from 28 September to 8 October and expressed gratitude for the support shown for the selection of Lachin as the Cultural Capital of the CIS for 2025. He noted that numerous cultural events have already been organized to showcase the unique heritage of the city of Lachin.

 

Touching upon security challenges, the Minister emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts in combating terrorism, extremism and transnational organized crime and welcomed the joint documents to be adopted in these areas.

 

Speaking about the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, the Minister recalled the ongoing humanitarian and environmental consequences of this event.

 

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation with its CIS partners, and the steady growth of mutual trade was noted as an indicator of positive dynamics.

 

It was noted that our country is interested in strengthening trust and promoting constructive dialogue within the CIS.
