On 19 September 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the newly appointed Ambassador of France to our country Sophie Laguette.
Ambassador Sophie Laguette presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Sophie Laguette on her appointment and wished her success in her activities.
During the meeting, the current state of existing bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France, as well as regional and international issues, were discussed.
During the meeting, where an exchange of views was also held on the causes of the crisis that has arisen in Azerbaijan-France relations, it was also noted that despite the existing problems, it is important to continue mutual dialogue and discussions.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed Ambassador Sophie Laguette about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenistan normalization process.
Ambassador Sophie Laguette expressed her gratitude for the reception and noted that she will spare no effort to contribute to strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and France during her tenure.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest.
