No:371/25, Joint press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport on the election of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union for the 2026–2029 term

On 18 September, within the framework of the 28th session of the Congress of the Universal Postal Union, the Republic of Azerbaijan was elected to the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council of the organization for the 2026–2029 term at the elections held in the city of Dubai of the United Arab Emirates.
The elections were held in a highly competitive environment. In the elections for membership in the Administrative Council of the organization for the 2026–2029 term, 9 candidate countries, including Azerbaijan, competed for 5 vacant seats. In the elections for membership in the Postal Operations Council for the 2026–2029 term, a choice was made among a total of 10 candidate countries for 6 vacant seats. The Republic of Azerbaijan secured the support of the majority of the countries participating in the first round of voting and was elected as a member to both structures of the Universal Postal Union.
Representation in the mentioned structures of the Postal Union, in addition to being another diplomatic success of our country, creates significant opportunities such as influencing the formation of postal policy at the international level, access to modern postal innovations, capacity building, and participation in decision-making in areas such as technical support.
