No:362/25, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev to the Arab Republic of Egypt

On 9 September, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev visited the Arab Republic of Egypt.
During the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev first met with the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation of Egypt, as well as the Egyptian Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Egypt, Ms. Rania A. Al-Mashat.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the expansion of economic and trade relations, the assessment of investment opportunities, and the cooperation agenda in such areas as energy, agriculture, transport, pharmaceuticals and tourism. The organization of the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission and possible joint projects to be implemented at this stage were also discussed.
Later, Y. Rafiyev met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for environmental affairs, Mr. Wael Aboulmagd. During the discussions held between the sides, opportunities for cooperation in combating climate change, cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, green energy, development of renewable energy sources, water resource management and exchange of experience in the field of environmental sustainability were evaluated.
Within the framework of the visit, the next 8th round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt was held. The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for European affairs Mr. Wael Mohamed Awad Hamed from the other side.
During the political consultations, it was noted that there is strong potential for expanding cooperation based on the historical friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt in all areas, and the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral and multilateral political relations, as well as cooperation in economic and trade, energy, tourism, agriculture, humanitarian and other fields were discussed.
Cooperation between the two countries in international organizations was positively assessed, and the importance of continuing mutual support in multilateral formats was emphasized.
The sides exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda, including the security situation in the Middle East and the South Caucasus region, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
