No:355/25, Press release on the visit of Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov to Peru

On 3–4 September 2025, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov visited the Republic of Peru.
During the visit, the first political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Peru were held in the city of Lima.
The delegations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side, and by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Felix Denegri Boza from the Peruvian side.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects for the development of relations between the two countries in the political, economic, energy, cultural, tourism and other fields were discussed, and the importance of creating a contractual and legal framework in the mentioned areas was emphasized.
Through relevant presentations, information was provided on the existing economic and trade opportunities in both countries, and mutual support was expressed for the promotion of joint initiatives.
Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov met with the President of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, head of the Peru-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group José Enrique Jerí. During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on the prospects for the development of inter-parliamentary relations, and the importance of cooperation in bilateral and multilateral platforms was emphasized.
At the same time, during the meeting held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru Elmer Schialer Salcedo, the counterpart side expressed its country’s interest in developing bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and stated that it hopes that the first political consultations will give impetus to the expansion of relations in various fields.
Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov gave interviews to Ricardo Sánchez Serra, correspondent of the leading Peruvian newspaper “La Razón” and Vice President of the Peruvian Journalists’ Association, as well as to the official media outlets of this country, the newspaper “El Peruano” and the state news agency “Andina”.
In addition, E. Mammadov delivered a lecture at the National University of San Marcos of Peru, which is the oldest higher education institution in the American continent. During the lecture, a detailed presentation was made on the foreign policy priorities of Azerbaijan, and questions of interest to the audience were answered.
