No:352/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell
On September 24, 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the future prospects of cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan. In this regard, the sides discussed the current status of negotiations on the bilateral Agreement which will form the legal basis of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU, and noted the importance of concluding the new Agreement on the basis of equal partnership. The sides also discussed the preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held at the end of the year.
Afterwards, the sides exchanged views on the latest situation in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the EU High Representative on the post-war reconstruction and restoration works in the liberated territories, and the humanitarian consequences of mass mining of the liberated territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia.
The High Representative Josep Borrell, noted the possibility of the EU's participation in the restoration and reconstruction phase.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
