On 23 September 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi, within the framework of the high-level week of the 79th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

 

During the meeting, prospects for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya, as well as issues of multilateral cooperation, were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, especially the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement, and thanked the Kenyan side for its support to the initiatives of our country during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.

 

During the meeting, prospects for the development of relations between the two countries in political, economic and humanitarian fields were reviewed. It was noted that the opening of our country’s Embassy in Kenya has made an important contribution to the development of relations.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also touched upon the prospects for developing cooperation in the field of combating climate change, and provided detailed information on the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by our country this year, as well as cooperation prospects within this framework.

 

During the meeting, the sides also discussed other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

Subsequently, a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on holding political consultations between Azerbaijan and Kenya was held between the ministers.
