On 20 August 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, José Manuel Albares Bueno.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain conveyed his congratulations on the achievements in the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process within the framework of the Summit meeting held during the visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States.
During the telephone conversation, the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan–Spain and Azerbaijan–European Union relations were discussed. The importance of cooperation in economic-trade, energy, tourism, humanitarian, and education fields was emphasized. The visit of the Prime Minister of Spain to Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29 was recalled with satisfaction.
It was noted that, as a continuation of the political consultations organized between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in 2024, preparations are underway for the next round of political consultations to be held in Baku in the near future.
During the telephone conversation, regional issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
