No:336/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau
On September 22, 2021, within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Zbigniew Rau.
The Ministers exchanged views on various issues of the bilateral cooperation agenda, including the successful continuation of political dialogue, expansion of economic cooperation, including the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, issues related to the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Poland, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
The need for further deepening of the bilateral relations between the two countries and continuation of the joint efforts in this direction was highlighted.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, including the issues related to participation in the Eastern Partnership.
The sides exchanged views on the upcoming chairmanship of Poland in the OSCE next year and issues of cooperation within the framework of OSCE.
Informing his counterpart on the new realities in the region as a result of 44-day Patriotic War, the current regional security situation and the implementation of the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan ensured the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on its own by liberating its lands from the occupation of Armenia. He noted that Azerbaijan is interested in ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region, and has taken the necessary steps in this direction, and informed his counterpart that Azerbaijan has begun restoration and reconstruction works in the liberated territories.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Armenia is still an obstacle to the stability in the region, and informed his counterpart about the continued provocations by Armenia.
Stressing his country’s interest in developing relations with Azerbaijan, Zbigniew Rau noted the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the region. He said that Azerbaijan is an important partner for Poland and that he would do his best to develop these relations in all areas during his term.
The Ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
