The next round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Republic of Germany was held in the city of Berlin.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Fariz Rzayev, while the German delegation was headed by the Commissioner of the Federal Foreign Office for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, Konrad Arz von Straussenburg.
During the consultations, the current state of political relations between the two countries was discussed, and the importance of mutual visits and meetings within the framework of international events for maintaining a sustained political dialogue was emphasized.
Discussions were also held on the current state and prospects of cooperation in economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian fields, as well as within international organizations. Strategic energy and transport projects implemented with Azerbaijan’s initiative and participation were reviewed, and information was provided on projects carried out in the field of humanitarian demining.
Detailed information was presented on the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process, steps taken by Azerbaijan towards establishing sustainable peace in the region, existing obstacles, as well as large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts in the territories liberated from occupation.
Within the framework of the visit, F. Rzayev also held working meetings with a number of German officials and participated in roundtable discussions with representatives of leading research and think tank institutions.
