No:277/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković
On July 26, 2021, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković, who is on an official visit to our country.
The meeting between the Ministers began in a one-on-one format and continued with the participation of large delegations. At the meeting, the issues on the agenda of friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia, cooperation within international organizations, as well as regional security were discussed.
Warmly welcoming the opposite side, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Serbia. He stressed that the high-level political dialogue between the two countries, especially the friendly relations between the heads of state, played an important role in the development of bilateral relations.
It was noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are based on respect and adherence to the principles of international law, in particular, the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of international borders.
Minister Nikola Selaković named Azerbaijan not only as a strategic partner but also as a country with which sincere and open friendly relations are shared. Minister Selaković recalled with satisfaction the meeting and discussions with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He stressed the commitments under international public law and the values we share, emphasizing the support of both countries for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ministers discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries in economic, trade, transport, energy, humanitarian, tourism, and other fields. It was noted that the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia, then followed by the Azerbaijan-Serbia business forum will be held in Baku, and confidence was expressed that these events will further strengthen economic and trade ties between our countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his counterpart on the current post-conflict phase in the region, including the situation in the liberated areas, the threat of landmines, and the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation process. He stressed the need for full implementation of the trilateral statements signed to ensure peace and security in the region.
The Ministers noted with satisfaction the organization of the event on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement in October this year in Belgrade by Serbia, as the host country of the first summit of the Movement, and by Azerbaijan as the current chairman of the Movement, as well as the preparatory works carried out in this direction.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
