No:237/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Acting President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Chairman of the Senate, Sayed Yusuf Raza Gilani

On 30 May 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Acting President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Chairman of the Senate, Sayed Yusuf Raza Gilani, within the framework of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on issues arising from the Azerbaijan–Pakistan strategic partnership, as well as on the regional and international situation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, expressing gratitude for the hospitality shown during his official visit to the friendly and brotherly Pakistan, brought to attention that such visits and contacts contribute to the development of the existing strategic partnership relations between our countries.
It was noted with satisfaction that the rich bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, including multilateral cooperation within regional and international platforms, is developing successfully. In particular, the existence of a mutually beneficial cooperation agenda, as well as potential for development in fields such as defense, economy, trade, investments, energy security, transport and communications, and tourism was emphasized.
It was brought to attention that relations and contacts between the parliaments of both countries contribute to the friendship and cooperation between our states and peoples.
Mutual support and activities within regional and international organizations, particularly within the framework of the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, were noted with satisfaction.
At the same time, the importance of cooperation within other various regional multilateral formats was emphasized.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing the other side with detailed information on the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, expressed gratitude to Pakistan for the political and moral support demonstrated during the former conflict, as well as under the current circumstances.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, speaking about the large-scale restoration works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as the normalization and peace negotiations conducted between Azerbaijan and Armenia, brought to attention that our country’s activities in both directions are aimed at ensuring regional peace and stability.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the other side about the preparatory and negotiation process related to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), stating that we highly appreciate cooperation opportunities in combating climate change.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
