No:231/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq
On June 18, 2021, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Fuad Hussein.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his Iraqi counterpart on Armenia's decades-long aggressive policy and its consequences, as well as Azerbaijan's counter-offensive operation started in response to Armenia's next military provocation and the liberation of the territories. The Minister spoke about the situation in the liberated areas and the reconstruction works carried out here.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that the historical, religious, and cultural ties between our peoples are the basis of sincere relations between our countries. He thanked his interlocutor for support of Iraq to Azerbaijan's just position.
Minister Fuad Hussein thanked him for the information provided. He noted the development of relations between our countries. He said that Iraq, as a war-torn country, is well aware of the consequences of the war, therefore his country is in favor of a peaceful solution to problems. In this regard, the Iraqi Minister noted with satisfaction the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the cessation of hostilities.
The sides also discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in energy, humanitarian, education, agriculture, tourism, and other fields.
