On 3 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Kenya, met with the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya Musalia Mudavadi.
The tête-à-tête meeting between the sides was later continued in an expanded format with the participation of the delegations of both sides.
During the expanded meeting, current issues on the Azerbaijan–Kenya bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda were discussed.
The sides expressed a shared view that Azerbaijan–Kenya relations, marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, are based on mutually beneficial cooperation, and emphasized the importance of maintaining the dynamics of high-level and top-level visits, ensuring the regularity of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and strengthening the bilateral legal and contractual framework.
It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya within multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) is based on mutual trust and support.
Touching upon economic, trade, investment and environmental dimensions, it was stated that there is great potential and broad opportunities for cooperation in the fields of information and communication technologies, energy and natural resources, agriculture and tourism, as well as in combating climate change and green transformation.
Satisfaction was expressed with the intensifying cooperation between Azerbaijan’s unique “ASAN Service” project in the field of ensuring accessibility and facilitation of public services and Kenya’s “Huduma Programme.”
The importance of increasing exchanges in the fields of education and culture between Azerbaijan and Kenya for enabling our peoples to know and understand each other more closely was highlighted.
Confidence was expressed that the official commencement of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, will contribute to the more systematic and comprehensive implementation of our bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
